Makie Kokubun
Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of ACSAC10
Professor Emeritus at Tohoku University
We are pleased to announce the 10th Asian Crop Science Association Conference (ACSAC 10), which will be held online from September 8 to 10, 2021.
This international conference is a gathering of crop science experts from a number of Asian countries, focusing on the presentation and discussion of the latest research findings in the fields of crop science and other related areas that deal with crop production in Asia. This conference also aims to put together findings from excellent studies in the field of crop science in Asian countries and disseminate them throughout the world, to contribute to the progress and promotion of crop science by encouraging information sharing and discussions with researchers from various Asian countries, and to encourage training and international academic exchange among young researchers.
Through the presentation and discussion of the latest developments in the field of crop science by experts from Asian countries, this conference will help Asian researchers communicate their research findings internationally. It also represents a great stimulus for young researchers in Asia and can contribute a great deal to the promotion of crop science, which in turn can exert a meaningful positive social impact through the realization of sustainable development of crop production in the Asian region.
The Asian Crop Science Association (ACSA) was established in 1990 through the initiative taken by founding members including the Crop Science Society of Japan (CSSJ), at which time Asia's presence in the world was improving and the world was witnessing a shift from Pax Americana to Pax Asiana. Crop science is a core subject in the field of agricultural sciences. The Tri-Science Societies in the U.S., namely the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), as well as the European Society for Agronomy (ESA) lead in the fields of dry field farming and grassland farming. In contrast, the ACSA plays the unique role of providing the opportunity for agricultural researchers in the Asian region to gather to discuss lowland rice cultivation and other crop cultivation in the monsoon-dominated Third Pole. This ACSAC 10 will mark the memorable 10th gathering of the ACSA.
We thank you in advance for understanding the purpose of this meeting. Your valuable assistance and cooperation will be very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to your participation and contributions.
